55. A song you've listened to so many times that you just can't listen to it anymore.
Much of my dislike for Oasis comes from the jukebox at the bar I lived in having a couple of their songs and a couple obsessive fans as patrons, so I guess this would have to be:
Oasis - Live Forever
56. A song that is insanely simple/repetitive, but that you consider awesome anyway.
PiL - This Is Not A Love Song
57. Your favorite song from your favorite genre.
Is underappreciated singer/song-writer actually a genre? I've probably exhausted a lot of these already, so here's a marginally different one.
Joe Henry - Civilians
58. Your therapist in a song.
Elvis Costello - Tramp The Dirt Down
It helps with the bitterness that still lingers after all these years. There's a certain strain of hindsight that claims that era, you know the one with that woman, was the painful price for England's economic resurgance. Really?
59. A song whose lyrics you take advice from.
So, I've had Oufit and Brown Shoes Don't Make It. That leaves:
Genesis - Counting Out Time
60. Your favorite movie-moment song.
Since I've already mentioned every single Hallelujah, my choices here are severely curtailled. I'm going to cheat here, because although the Terminator tv series never quite figured out what it wanted to be and had far too many time-travellers it was occasionally good television and had two sequences that have some spine-tingleingly good use of music.
The second season starts with Shirley Manson convering Samson & Delilah to a lot of blurry slow-motiuon and it suggested a stylised version of the show that the producers immediately forgot. They had however ended the last season with a fantastic use of Johhny Cash.
Terminator : Sarah Connor Chronicles - Johhny Cash - When A Man Comes Around
A quick mention should go to the Sons of Anarchy, the producers also commisioned a cover version of a song for a set piece, end of season in this instance, getting Curtis Stiegers to record a pretty soulful John The Revelator.
Obviously, I have some weird Revelations thing going on...
